  5. This hybrid CD-ROM plays on both Windows and Macintosh computers
  6.  
  7. Recommended Macintosh system:
  8. 68040 or higher, System 7.0 or higher, 8 MB RAM, double speed CD-ROM drive.

  10. Recommended Windows system:
  11. ╘486/33MHz with 8 MB RAM, Windows 3.1 or higher, 8 MB hard disk space available, SVGA display, double speed CD-ROM drive, MPC 2-compatible sound card (22KHz, 16-bit).

  14. Set up and installation
  15.  
  16. Setting up Inside Magic is easy:  
  17.  
  18. a.  Make sure you have QuickTime 2.0 or later installed in your System folder
  19. b.  Put the Inside Magic disk in your CD-ROM drive
  20. c.  Double click on the icon  
  21.  
  22. It is not necessary to copy anything to your hard disk to run this CD-ROM.   If you are short on memory, we first recommend that you quit any open applications.  In addition, you may wish to turn off unneeded Extensions and Control Panels (see your Macintosh documentation for instructions on how to do this), however be sure you don't turn off the QuickTime and CD-ROM Extensions.

  24. If you still encounter problems, try launching "Inside Magic LM" which you can find by scrolling down in the Inside Magic window.  It is a version of the product that has been optimized for lower memory configurations.

  27. QuickTime 2.1

  29. We have included version 2.1 of QuickTime on this CD-ROM, however, QuickTime 2.0 has been tested thoroughly with Inside Magic and it works fine as well.

  32. Hints for using Performances in Inside Magic
  33.  
  34.  
  35. Ñ  If the lesson you are viewing has a Performance linked to it, you'll find an icon for you to click on in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  36.  
  37. Ñ  Once the Performance has concluded, a hidden "Recipe Card" will be active but hidden.  The Recipe Card is a mini index linked to the lessons used in that performance.  You can find the Recipe Card for a performance by rolling your mouse around the bottom half of the screen.

  39. Ñ  Recipe Cards are not active during Performances
  40.  
  41. Ñ  If you wish to skip to the end of a Performance to gain access to a Recipe Card, just hit the space bar at any time during the Performance.

  43. Ñ  Recipe Cards are only visible to users who have used the password and received the Insider's Pass at start-up time.
  44.  
  45. Ñ    To play a Performance again, just click on Peter.
